Emma and Jaxson

This week, Emma has started to take some interest in Jaxson.  She has been coming into the room when she hears him crying and checking on him. and when he is down on the floor she likes to come by and give him a few kisses.

Emma also seems to think that Jax can play with her already.  I was playing fetch with one of her squeakys and she decided that maybe Jax needed it.  Emma jumped on the couch and put it right on Jaxson's face while he was sleeping.  She was trying to include him in the games too!

From the looks of this picture, I think Jaxson likes Emma, too!

Baby Playtime!

Mommy started a baby playgroup with a bunch of little babies all about Jaxson's age.  We have been meeting once a week for the last 3 weeks now and it has been tons of fun for both Jax and myself.  It is great to have other mommies to talk to!  There are about 10 of us and all the babies were born within a few months on each other.  Jax is the youngest, but not by much.

Jaxson stayed awake for almost the whole playdate this week.  He laid on the mat and played with all the babies. He played there for longer than all the other babies, he made it through 3 different friends.  He loves to lay on the floor and be able to move around, kicking his feet and swinging his arms.  It is his favorite place to be... he could lay there for hours just happy as can be!

Here he is is all worn out!  He was enjoying tummy time with the other babies and just decided it was time for a little nap.  He is too cute.

Six Weeks Old!

Wow! Where does time go these days?  I have meant to do this for days, but each night it never seems to happen.  Jaxson is growing so fast these days and is changing so much.  Nothing too exciting happened from week 4 to week 5, so I didn't feel like I had much to write about, but shockingly in the last week he seems to be a whole new baby! He is now over 10 lbs. and officially out grown all of his newborn clothes. I used the last newborn diaper yesterday, it made me kind of sad that he grown that much already... they grow way too fast.

Jax has started to wake up more and notice all of his surroundings.  Last week he was sitting in his chair that he slept in the first 4 weeks of his life and he looked up and actually notice the dragonfly hanging above his head for the first time.  He just stared and stared!  Now he can see things and follows them with his eyes.  It has made him so much more alert.

He smiles now and it is so sweet! Also, Jax now has discovered that he can make noises.  He lays there and makes the cutest noises!  When I talk to him, it is as if he is trying to have a conversation with me =) He has just been so much fun these last few days, I love this little guys.

Now the bad part... Since he has discovered that there are much more exciting things to do, Jaxson has decided that sleep is not a great thing at night anymore.  Poor mommy has been so sleep deprived these last 5 days!  He will not sleep for more then 3 hours at a time at night time and then wants to be up and play, not just go back to sleep.  I knew that this great sleeper could not last forever, but I sure was not prepared for this.  How in the world to people function like this?!?!?!  I sure hope he is only growing and this will not last long.  I want (need) my great sleeper back!

4 weeks old!

It has already been 4 weeks since Jax was born! I feel like there is already so much that has happened and I thought this would be a great way to keep track of it all and for friends and family to also hear about what is going on and see Jax grow.  So here is me catching up on the last 4 weeks...

I think he still looks the same and does not seem much bigger.  I weighed him on the bathroom scale today and with his clothes and a diaper on he was 9 lbs... so I am not sure how much he really weighs now, but it is more then 2 weeks ago!  At his 2 week appointment he weighed 7lbs. 3oz.  He still is wearing his newborn clothes, but they are starting to get a little snug.  Looks like we are going to be moving up to the next size this week... time to start wearing the 100's of clothes I went a little crazy buying.  Yay!

Jax is defiantly more alert now and spends longer times awake, but he is still a huge sleeper.  I could not ask for a better sleeper!!!  We have really only had 3 or 4 bad nights so far, so I can't really complain.  He only gets up once or twice a night to eat and then goes right back to sleep, then usually ends up in bed with me at some point in the morning so I can get just a few extra hours of sleep.  Today we stayed in bed until 11:15 am!

He loves his play gym that Destrea got him.  There are lights in the top part that he just stares at forever... very cute =) He just lays there and kicks his legs and moves his arms. Until yesterday he was not a big fan of the swing, but he is learning to like it more and more.

Hope you enjoy!

The day he was born!

My sweet little boy was born on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 4:42 pm.  There were many family members there in the delivery room to welcome him into the world... Daddy, Mommy (of course!), Nana, Auntie Tricia, Auntie Heather, Uncle Thomas and Uncle Trevor.  It was a full room!  He was 6 lbs 13 oz. and 19 1/4 inches long.  Pops came to meet him later that night...  He was at home watching Tyson so everyone else could be there, since the hospital would not let any children in due to all the illnesses going around these days.  (Thanks Dad!)

After going through a bunch of baby name books and reading off thousands of names, Derek and I finally came up with a name.... Jaxson Cooper.  Who knew that it would be so hard to pick a baby name!
